I your bottle brush or Callistemon is full of foliage, please be reassured that plant is healthy.

The Callistemon is a sensitive species and the lack of flowers can be the result of numerous factors.

The most common reason for a lack of flowers is insufficient sunlight. The first thing to consider is where the Callistemon is planted and if it gets enough sunshine in that location. Our horticultural experts recommend at least 6 hours of full sun a day.

Please ensure that you are not using a fertiliser full of nitrogen. Whilst nitrogen fertiliser is great for encouraging foliage to grow,  it does come at the expense of the flower. Always read the fertiliser instructions carefully and if in doubt, err on the side of caution.

Pruning is an excellent way of keeping the plants foliage under control. However, doing this at the wrong time can jeopardise your chance of the plant flowering. We would always recommend pruning after flowering. However, if your plant is not flowering at all,  we would recommend pruning in late spring and summer as this would typically be after the main flowering season.
